Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced or sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or Swiss cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley or Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper for air fryer basket

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Puff Pastry

Lightly flour a clean surface and unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Roll it slightly to smooth the folds and cut it into 4 equal rectangles.

Step 2: Add the Filling

Spread a small amount of Dijon mustard onto half of each pastry rectangle if using. Add ham and shredded cheese to one side of each rectangle, leaving a small border around the edges. Sprinkle with parsley or Italian seasoning.

Step 3: Seal the Pockets

Fold the pastry over the filling to create pockets. Press the edges together with a fork to seal tightly and prevent the cheese from leaking during cooking.

Step 4: Prepare the Egg Wash

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Brush the tops of the pastry pockets with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Step 5: Air Fry

Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 3 minutes. Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.

Place the pastry pockets in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them for airflow. Cook for 8–12 minutes, flipping halfway if needed, until golden brown and puffed.

Step 6: Cool and Serve

Carefully remove the pastry pockets from the air fryer and allow them to cool for 3–5 minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
