Air Fryer Swedish Apple Cake

Air Fryer Swedish Apple Cake

This air fryer Swedish apple cake is a soft, warmly spiced dessert with a buttery crumb and rich cinnamon flavor. It’s a simplified Scandinavian-style cake that comes out tender in the center with a lightly golden top, and the air fryer makes it quick and easy without heating up the oven.

The cake is sweet, fragrant, and comforting—perfect with coffee or tea. Cinnamon is the dominant spice, giving it that classic “cozy bakery” aroma while the vanilla and butter round out the flavor. It’s simple, rustic, and reliably delicious.

Because it’s cooked in an air fryer, the texture is slightly denser and more moist than a traditional oven-baked cake, which actually makes it feel even more comforting and rich.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 ⅔ cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon

Instructions (Air Fryer Method)

1. Prep pan

  • Grease a small air fryer-safe cake pan (6–7 inch) or line with parchment.

2. Cream butter and sugar

  • Beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

3. Add eggs and vanilla

  • Mix in eggs one at a time.
  • Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Mix dry ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, combine:
    • flour
    • baking soda
    • salt
    • cinnamon

5. Combine batter

  • Slowly add dry ingredients into wet mixture.
  • Stir until just combined (do not overmix).

6. Air fry

  • Preheat air fryer to 320°F (160°C).
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Cook for 20–28 minutes, checking at 20 minutes.
  • Cake is done when a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

7. Cool and serve

  • Let cool 10–15 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Tips for Best Results

  • Don’t overmix—keeps the cake soft instead of dense.
  • Air fryer times vary, so start checking early.
  • If top browns too fast, lightly cover with foil.
  • Add apples or nuts for extra texture if desired.
