Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the spinach
If using fresh spinach:
Heat a dry skillet over medium heat and cook spinach for:
- 1–2 minutes
Until wilted.
Allow to cool slightly, then squeeze out excess moisture and finely chop.
This prevents watery burgers.
Step 2: Make the burger mixture
In a large mixing bowl, combine:
- Ground chicken
- Spinach
- Cheddar cheese
- Garlic
- Parmesan
- Egg
- Almond flour
- Onion powder
- Paprika
- Italian seasoning
- Salt
- Pepper
Mix gently until just combined.
Do not overmix or burgers may become dense.
Step 3: Form patties
Divide mixture into:
- 4 equal portions
Wet your hands lightly to prevent sticking.
Shape into burger patties about:
- 1.5 cm thick
Place on a plate or tray.
For firmer burgers, refrigerate patties for:
- 15–20 minutes
Step 4: Cook the burgers
Skillet Method
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Cook burgers for:
- 5–6 minutes per side
Until golden brown and internal temperature reaches:
- 74°C (165°F)
Avoid pressing down while cooking.
Air Fryer Method
Preheat air fryer to:
- 190°C (375°F)
Cook for:
- 10–12 minutes
Flip halfway through cooking.
Oven Method
Bake at:
- 200°C (400°F)
For:
- 18–22 minutes
Flip once halfway.
