Classic Creamy Chicken Salad

Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ⅓ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 2 celery stalks, finely diced
  • 3 green onions, sliced thin
  • 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped (or 1 tsp dried dill)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook and cool the chicken completely.
  2. Shred the chicken using two forks or a mixer.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Add shredded chicken, celery, and green onions.
  5. Mix until everything is evenly coated.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Optional Add-Ins

  • Chopped grapes
  • Diced apples
  • Chopped pecans or almonds
  • Bacon bits
  • Diced pickles
  • Hard-boiled eggs

Storage

  • Refrigerate in airtight containers for up to 4 days.
  • Do not freeze, as the dressing may separate.
