These crispy pizza chips are incredibly simple to make with just 2 ingredients. They’re crunchy, cheesy, and packed with pizza flavor—perfect as a snack, appetizer, or low-carb alternative to crackers.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons pizza sauce

Method 1: Oven-Baked Pizza Chips

Step 1: Preheat

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: Form the Chips

  1. Place small mounds of mozzarella cheese on the baking sheet.
  2. Leave about 2 inches (5 cm) between each mound.
  3. Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon.
  4. Add about ¼ teaspoon pizza sauce to the center of each cheese mound.

Tip: Don’t use too much sauce or the chips may become soft.


Step 3: Bake

  • Bake for 8–12 minutes.
  • Watch closely after 8 minutes.
  • The edges should become deep golden brown and crispy.

Step 4: Cool

  • Remove from the oven.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes.

As they cool, they become much crispier.


Method 2: Air Fryer Pizza Chips

  1. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place parchment liner in basket if recommended by your manufacturer.
  3. Arrange cheese mounds as described above.
  4. Add a small dab of pizza sauce.
  5. Air fry for 5–7 minutes until golden and crisp.
  6. Cool for 3–5 minutes before serving.

How to Make Them Extra Crispy

Use Low-Moisture Mozzarella

Fresh mozzarella contains too much water and won’t crisp as well.

Spread Thinly

The thinner the cheese layer, the crispier the chip.

Bake Until Deep Golden

Lightly browned chips are often still chewy. For maximum crunch, allow the edges to become a rich golden brown.

Cool Completely

The chips continue to crisp as they cool.


Optional Seasonings (if you want more pizza flavor)

Although the basic recipe uses only 2 ingredients, you can sprinkle on:

  • Italian seasoning
  • Garlic powder
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Dried oregano

Storage

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 day.
  • Refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Re-crisp in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 3–4 minutes if needed.
