Garlic & Citrus Infused Water

Garlic & Citrus Infused Water

While the diagram in the image claims this drink will “cleanse blood vessels in just 10 days,” it is important to be completely direct: no single recipe or remedy can physically clear plaque from your arteries or instantly cure high blood pressure. Plaque buildup is a complex medical condition that requires proper lifestyle changes and guidance from a doctor.

That being said, what you are looking at is a traditional Garlic & Citrus Infused Water (often called garlic tea or elixir). While it won’t magically clear out your arteries in 10 days, garlic, ginger, and citrus are packed with antioxidants and are great for supporting your overall immune system and cardiovascular health.

Here is the recipe to make this infused wellness tonic at home.

Garlic, Lime & Mint Wellness Infusion

  • Prep time: 10 minutes
  • Steep time: 2–3 hours (or overnight)
  • Yields: 1 large jar

Ingredients

  • 1 head of garlic (about 10–12 cloves), peeled and slightly smashed
  • 2 small limes or lemons, thoroughly washed and sliced into rounds
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced (optional, but great for digestion)
  • 1 small handful of fresh mint leaves
  • 1 tsp whole black peppercorns
  • 4 cups filtered water (warm or room temperature)

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Activate the Garlic: Peel the garlic cloves. Using the flat side of your knife, gently press down on each clove to smash it slightly. Let the smashed garlic sit on your cutting board for 10 minutes before adding it to the water—this activates allicin, the primary health-boosting compound in garlic.
  2. Layer the Jar: In a large glass mason jar, place the smashed garlic cloves, lime slices, ginger slices, fresh mint leaves, and black peppercorns.
  3. Add Water: Pour the filtered water into the jar, ensuring all the ingredients are completely submerged.
  4. Steep: Seal the jar tightly with its lid. Place it in the refrigerator to steep for at least 2 to 3 hours—or overnight for a much stronger infusion.
  5. Strain and Drink: You can strain the liquid into a glass or pour it directly out of the jar. It is best enjoyed cold or at room temperature.

Pro-Tip: Because of the raw garlic and peppercorns, this drink has a very sharp, pungent flavor! If it is too intense to drink straight, you can dilute a few tablespoons of it into a warm cup of water and stir in a teaspoon of raw honey to help smooth out the taste.
