Ingredients
- 1 large yellow or sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp oil (olive, avocado, or vegetable)
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (or cornstarch for extra crispiness)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Optional: ½ tsp paprika, garlic powder, or onion powder
Instructions
- Slice the onion into thin rings or half-moons.
- Separate the slices and toss with the oil.
- Sprinkle on the flour and seasonings, tossing until evenly coated.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
- Arrange the onions in a single layer in the basket (cook in batches if needed).
- Air fry for 10–15 minutes, shaking the basket every 3–4 minutes. Watch closely during the last few minutes—they can go from golden to burnt quickly.
- For extra crispiness, cook an additional 2–3 minutes at 350°F (175°C) if needed.
Tips
- Don’t overcrowd the basket—airflow is key.
- Thin slices crisp better than thick ones.
- Let the onions cool for 5 minutes after cooking; they’ll become even crispier.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container and re-crisp in the air fryer for 2–3 minutes.
