🚨 Google Keep Reminders Get a New Home: Welcome to Google Tasks!

📝 Heads up, Google Keep users! Your reminders are moving out and getting a new home in Google Tasks. Don’t panic, we’ll explain what’s happening and why.

🔄 What’s happening? Google’s been shuffling things around, and now they’re moving all reminders from Google Keep into Google Tasks. This change was announced last year, and it’s starting to roll out now, so you’ll see it happening over the next few weeks.

🤔 Why the change? Google wants to make your life simpler by having one central hub for all your reminders. So, instead of keeping them in Google Keep, they’ll now be in Google Tasks, which syncs with Gemini, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Google Docs.

😮 But wait, what about me, a Google Keep power user? Yeah, we feel you. This change might be a bit confusing at first. You’ll still create reminders in Google Keep by tapping the bell icon, and they’ll still show up on your notes. But now, Google Tasks will handle all the notifications.

📍 Location reminders are going away Sadly, you won’t be able to set location-based reminders in Google Keep anymore. Google Tasks doesn’t have this feature either. So, no more reminders to pick up milk when you’re near the grocery store.

🗑️ Deleting reminders If you delete a task in Google Calendar or Google Tasks, the reminder will disappear from Google Keep, but the note it was attached to will stay. You can delete the note, the reminder, or both from Google Keep.

🤯 It’s a bit confusing, right? We know, it’s not the simplest change. But don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of it. All your existing reminders will be moved to Google Tasks over the next few weeks.

🌟 Google Tasks: The new reminder hub Google Tasks has been around since 2018 and is well-integrated with other Google apps. Now, it’s also the home for your Google Keep reminders.

🚨 Apple’s Running Out of TVs & HomePod Minis: New Models Imminent!

📣 Attention, Apple fans! If you’ve been eyeing an Apple TV or HomePod mini, you might want to hold off for now. Several Apple Stores worldwide are running low on stock, with some even selling out completely! 😮

This isn’t just a random blip, folks. It’s looking like Apple’s gearing up to launch new versions of these popular devices. Here’s the tea:

📺 Apple TV: Rumors have been swirling for ages that Apple’s working on a new TV. Now, it seems like those whispers might be true. The next Apple TV is expected to pack a punch with an A17 chip for faster performance, Apple Intelligence-powered Siri, and a new Wi-Fi chip supporting Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. A built-in FaceTime camera? Maybe, maybe not – we’ll have to wait and see.

🎧 HomePod mini: The little speaker that could is getting a refresh too! The new HomePod mini is rumored to come with an S9 chip (or something even newer), better sound quality, a second-gen Ultra Wideband chip, and new color options – like red! 🌈

Mark Gurman, the tech whisperer over at Bloomberg, has confirmed that both updates are still very much on the roadmap. He’s even hinted that new products could drop as early as this week! 🤩

So, if you’re in the market for a new Apple TV or HomePod mini, it might be worth waiting a little longer. The new models seem to be just around the corner, and who wants last year’s tech when you can have this year’s, right? 😉

Sora 2’s Masterstroke: Can You Spot AI-Generated Videos? 11 Tips to Outsmart the AI

Sora 2, OpenAI’s latest text-to-video model, has arrived, and it’s causing quite a stir. This upgraded AI can create short, incredibly realistic video clips based on a simple prompt. While we’ve seen AI video generation improve rapidly, Sora 2 has taken us to a whole new level: much of its output looks genuinely real.

Whether you’re thrilled or terrified by this development depends on your stance on AI. But let’s set aside that debate for now. Today, we’re tackling a more practical question: Can we actually tell when a video is made by Sora 2?

The answer? It’s complicated. No matter how sharp your eye, you can still be fooled. Even experts in the field have been tricked. It’s not about being smart or not; it’s about the AI’s evolution.

You might wonder why it matters. Isn’t AI just a bit of fun? Well, yes, today it’s a fake AI cat, but tomorrow it could be a fake politician, a fake arrest, or a fake friend. If we don’t start honing our spotting skills now, we could be in trouble.

The problem is, Sora 2 has quietly fixed most of the old AI giveaways. Things like blurs, weird hands, and impossible physics? Sora 2 isn’t perfect, but it’s dramatically better at all of them. However, there are still cracks if you know where (and how) to look. Spotting Sora 2 videos isn’t just about what you see; it’s about how you think.

1. Look behind the subject: Sora 2 excels at making the main subject convincing, but the background can still give it away. Keep an eye out for buildings with impossible proportions, walls that shift, lines that don’t quite meet, and background characters doing bizarre things. The truth might be hiding just behind the main subject.

2. Pay attention to physics: Real life has rules that AI doesn’t always follow. Watch for objects that suddenly appear or vanish, lighting that doesn’t match the environment, shadows that fall the wrong way, reflections that show nothing, or motion that feels a little too smooth. Even when the overall aesthetic looks right, physics glitches are still one of the clearest tells.

3. Notice movement that feels “off”: Some people get an “uncanny valley” feeling when they look at fake humans in AI images and videos, often due to creepy movements. But even non-human things can glitch, like static objects that gently wobble, hair that blows in non-existent wind, or fabric that moves for no reason. AI loves adding tiny animations everywhere, but it can make the world feel alive in the wrong way.

4. Look for blurs, noise, and smudges: Sora 2 is impressive, but compression still gets weird. You’ll sometimes see grainy patches, warped or melted textures, smudged areas where something was edited out, or overly clean spots that look airbrushed. This is exactly why bodycam-style or low-res footage is already so popular on Sora 2 – and so dangerous. It naturally looks messy, making all of these flaws harder to spot, and Sora 2 can blend into that aesthetic almost perfectly.

5. Tap into your emotions: AI content is often engineered to provoke a strong emotion, like shock, awe, sadness, or anger. The problem is that when you’re emotional, you’re far less likely to stop and question what you’re seeing. If a video makes you instantly furious or deeply moved, that’s your cue to pause. Manipulation is easier when you’re overwhelmed.

6. Be wary of watermarks: Some Sora 2 videos include a subtle “Sora” watermark that moves through the frame. Perfect, right? Problem solved? Not so fast. Relying on watermarks is risky. People can crop them out, blur them, or even add fake ones to make AI content look more authentic. And when a watermark has been removed, there are usually clues, like odd aspect ratios, black bars, or awkward cropping.

7. Scrutinize the account, not just the video: As content becomes harder to verify, the source becomes even more important. Always check the account sharing it. Is it a random viral page built on shocking or sensational clips? Much more likely to be AI. Do they ever include sources or context in the caption? If not, that’s another clue. The less transparent the account is, the more cautious you should be.

8. Check the comments: Comments are often the first place someone screams “AI!”, so they’re worth checking. But be careful. Creators can delete comments, filter out words like “fake” or “AI,” or turn comments off entirely. So just because no one is questioning the video doesn’t mean everyone believes it. Sometimes it just means no one is allowed to question it.

9. Cross-check with reality: If it’s genuinely news, then other reputable outlets are going to be covering it, so check them. Most newsrooms spend a lot of time authenticating video footage, checking where it’s come from, contacting sources, tracing the original upload, and digging into the metadata. Whole teams are trained to verify video, so if it only exists in a single viral TikTok, be skeptical.

10. Slow down: This is probably the most important skill. We see so much content, scrolling and sharing at speed, and that’s exactly when we get caught out – especially by emotionally-charged videos. Slowing down gives your brain time to spot the cracks.

And go easy on yourself. You won’t catch every AI video. No one will. But learning to question what we see regularly and with curiosity is the new media literacy. It’s not just about avoiding embarrassment over a fake video. As AI and reality blur more and more, this skill won’t just be useful; it’ll be essential.

Upskill or Get Left Behind: Why the UK Can’t Afford to Ignore AI Training”

In the grand AI transformation of the UK economy, the biggest threat isn’t machines replacing us, but humans being left behind due to a lack of necessary skills. While 90% of global IT leaders are investing in AI tools, almost one in five UK companies is actively cutting budgets for employee training. This is a red alert for our long-term competitiveness!

The UK government has committed £2 billion to lead the AI race, but infrastructure alone won’t drive change. We need people who can wield this powerful technology. Skills and training must be at the heart of our AI strategy from day one.

Prioritizing Skills in the AI Agenda

Investing in AI often starts with infrastructure – platforms, computing, models. But all too often, skill development is an afterthought, or worse, ignored. This leads to processes being automated without empowering employees to evolve, stifling innovation, and creating resistance to change.

Instead, we should help people work with AI. We don’t need to turn everyone into a machine learning engineer; we just need to give teams the confidence and capability to use AI to solve problems, make better decisions, and focus on higher-value work. That’s where the real return on investment comes from – not just from the technology, but from the people using it.

Harnessing Existing Workforce Capabilities

The good news is that most businesses already have in-house experts. With the right support, these teams can use AI tools to automate the repetitive tasks and elevate the creative, further developing their roles. But this can’t happen in isolation. Skill development must be integrated into AI strategy, change initiatives, and everyday operations. It’s about creating a culture that demystifies AI and encourages lifelong learning.

Embedding Access and Inclusion in AI Strategy

The global movement to democratize AI education is gaining traction. High-quality, practical training, especially when it’s free, helps create a more diverse pipeline of AI-literate talent and levels the playing field for everyone. By removing barriers to entry, more people get practical experience in applied problem-solving, reflecting the challenges businesses face daily.

Enterprises should invest in domain-specific upskilling. Most AI-specific jobs of the future won’t be entirely new; they’ll be existing roles transformed by real-time intelligence and automation. So, training must be tailored, contextual, and aligned with what teams do day-to-day.

Building Trust Through Practical AI Deployment

Ultimately, when workers see AI in action in their own domain, their confidence in it builds. Scaling and safely integrating technologies into actual workflows is crucial. This means breaking down data silos, putting in place transparent governance, and deploying AI agents into the platforms people currently use. When AI meets users where they are, it becomes a business-wide asset, integrated into decision-making across operations, customer service, and products.

Positioning People at the Core of AI Leadership

If the UK and its businesses are to be at the forefront of the AI economy, training must be the cornerstone of innovation, not an afterthought. Those who can use AI and data to address practical issues at all levels of the workforce will be most successful. Broad upskilling isn’t just beneficial for businesses; it’s a national benefit, ensuring this generation of AI is one of inclusivity, opportunity, and shared development.

So, let’s stop treating skills as an afterthought and start making them the bedrock of the UK’s AI future. Let’s build from the ground up, empowering each individual along the way.
