- ½ cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tbsp melted butter or vegetable oil
- Cooking spray or a little oil for greasing
Optional Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Batter
- Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for 3 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped apples.
Step 2: Shape the Fritters
- Line the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- Scoop about 2 tablespoons of batter for each fritter onto the basket, leaving space between them.
- Lightly spray the tops with cooking spray.
Step 3: Air Fry
- Temperature: 180°C (350°F)
- Time: 10–12 minutes
- Flip the fritters carefully after 6 minutes, then continue cooking until golden brown and cooked through.
Step 4: Make the Glaze (Optional)
- Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle over the warm fritters or dip the tops into the glaze.
- Let the glaze set for 5–10 minutes before serving.
Tips
- Use firm apples like Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji for the best texture.
- Do not overmix the batter to keep the fritters light and tender.
- If making multiple batches, keep cooked fritters warm in a 100°C (210°F) oven until ready to serve.
- Best enjoyed warm on the day they are made.
