  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Tomatoes

  1. Slice the green tomatoes into ½-inch (1.25 cm) thick rounds.
  2. Pat the slices dry with paper towels.

Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station

  • Bowl 1: Flour
  • Bowl 2: Whisk together the eggs and milk.

Step 3: Coat the Tomatoes

  1. Dredge each tomato slice in the flour.

  2. Lightly spray both sides of the breaded tomato slices with cooking spray.
  3. Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.

Air Fry:

  • 200°C (390°F) for 10–12 minutes
  • Flip halfway through (after 5–6 minutes).
  • Spray lightly again after flipping for extra crispiness.

Step 5: Serve

Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Optional Dipping Sauce

Mix together:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Tips

  • Choose firm, unripe green tomatoes for the best texture.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
  • A light spray of oil before and after flipping helps create a crisp, golden coating.
  • Serve with ranch dressing, spicy aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
