Ingredients
- 2–3 large green tomatoes
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp milk
- ¾ cup cornmeal
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Tomatoes
- Slice the green tomatoes into ½-inch (1.25 cm) thick rounds.
- Pat the slices dry with paper towels.
Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station
- Bowl 1: Flour
- Bowl 2: Whisk together the eggs and milk.
- Bowl 3: Mix the cornmeal, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
Step 3: Coat the Tomatoes
- Dredge each tomato slice in the flour.
- Dip into the egg mixture.
- Coat well in the cornmeal and breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently so the coating sticks.
Step 4: Air Fry
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (390°F) for 3 minutes.
- Lightly spray both sides of the breaded tomato slices with cooking spray.
- Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Air Fry:
- 200°C (390°F) for 10–12 minutes
- Flip halfway through (after 5–6 minutes).
- Spray lightly again after flipping for extra crispiness.
Step 5: Serve
Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp sour cream
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
