Crispy air fryer bang bang shrimp

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp oil (or cooking spray)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Bang Bang Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1–2 tbsp sriracha (adjust to your preferred spice level)
  • 1 tsp honey (optional, for extra sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry and season with the salt and black pepper.
  2. Coat each shrimp in cornstarch, dip into the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with the panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Lightly spray or drizzle the breaded shrimp with oil.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Arrange the shrimp in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  6. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the coating is golden and the shrimp are cooked through.
  7. While the shrimp cook, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey until smooth.
  8. Toss the hot shrimp with the sauce just before serving, or serve the sauce on the side if you want to keep the coating extra crispy.

  • As an appetizer with sliced green onions and sesame seeds

Tip: For the crispiest shrimp, don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if needed.
