  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pastries

  1. Roll out the puff pastry slightly if needed.
  2. Cut it into 4 equal squares.
  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each square (optional).
  4. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on one half of each square.
  5. Fold the pastry over to form a rectangle or triangle.
  6. Seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Sprinkle with oregano or sesame seeds if desired.

2. Air Fry

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350°F) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Place the pastries in the basket, leaving space between them.
  3. Air fry at 180°C (350°F) for 10–12 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.

If making multiple batches, keep the cooked pastries on a wire rack to stay crisp.

Serving Suggestions

  • Tomato soup
  • Green salad
  • Honey mustard or garlic aioli
  • Ketchup or spicy mayo

Tips

  • Chill the assembled pastries for 10 minutes before air frying for a flakier texture.
  • Avoid overfilling to prevent the cheese from leaking out.
  • If the tops brown too quickly, reduce the temperature to 170°C (340°F) for the last few minutes.
  • Let the pastries rest for 2–3 minutes before serving, as the filling will be very hot.
