Air Fryer Potato Fritters.

Air Fryer Potato Fritters.

Ingredients (Makes 8 fritters)

  • 2 medium potatoes (about 500 g), peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, finely grated
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley or chives (optional)
  • Olive oil cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Grate the potatoes and place them in a clean kitchen towel. Squeeze out as much moisture as possible.
  2. Grate the onion and squeeze out any excess liquid.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the potatoes, onion, egg, flour, Parmesan (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and herbs. Mix well.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 190°C (375°F) for 3–5 minutes.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with oil.
  6. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of the mixture for each fritter and flatten slightly into patties.
  7. Arrange the fritters in a single layer, leaving space between them. Spray the tops lightly with oil.
  8. Air fry for 10 minutes, carefully flip, spray again, and cook for another 8–10 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Serving Suggestions

Serve warm with:

  • Sour cream
  • Greek yogurt mixed with herbs
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Garlic aioli
  • Applesauce (a traditional pairing)

Tips

  • Removing as much moisture as possible from the potatoes is the key to crispy fritters.
  • Cook in batches rather than overcrowding the basket.
  • For extra crispiness, refrigerate the potato mixture for 15–20 minutes before cooking.
  • Swap some of the potato for grated zucchini or carrot (be sure to squeeze them dry as well).

Enjoy these as a snack, side dish, or topped with a fried egg for a hearty breakfast.
