This clean green juice uses simple ingredients to deliver a hydrating boost. It strikes the perfect balance between leafy greens and a touch of natural sweetness from fresh apples and lemon.
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Total Time: 10 minutes
- Servings: 2
Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh spinach or kale (stems removed if using kale)
- 1 large English cucumber, cut into chunks
- 2 medium green apples (such as Granny Smith), cored and chopped
- 3 celery stalks, chopped
- 1 medium lemon, peeled
- ½ inch fresh ginger root, peeled
- 1 to 1½ cups cold water (if using a blender)
- (Optional) Ice cubes for serving
Instructions
Method 1: Using a Blender (Most Common)
- Load the Blender: Place the cucumber chunks and cold water at the bottom of the blender first (this helps the blades run smoothly), followed by the celery, apples, lemon, ginger, and spinach.
- Blend: Blend on high speed for 60 to 90 seconds until the mixture is completely smooth and liquid.
- Strain: Place a nut milk bag, fine-mesh strainer, or cheesecloth over a large pitcher or bowl. Pour the blended green mixture through it and squeeze/press out all the juice, discarding the remaining pulp.
- Serve: Pour over ice and enjoy immediately!
Method 2: Using a Juicer
- Prep: Wash all ingredients thoroughly.
- Juice: Feed the spinach, ginger, lemon, celery, cucumber, and apples through your juicer according to the machine’s instructions.
- Serve: Stir the juice well, pour over ice, and drink fresh!
Tips & Variations
- Drink Fresh: Green juice tastes best and retains the most nutrients when consumed immediately. You can store leftovers in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
- Adjust Sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet, lower-sugar juice, swap one of the apples for an extra stalk of celery or half a cucumber.
- Boost the Flavor: Add a small handful of fresh mint leaves or parsley before blending for an extra burst of herbal freshness.
