Air fryer bread pudding

Air fryer bread pudding

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 4 cups day-old bread, cubed (French bread, brioche, challah, or sandwich bread)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk works best)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1 tbsp melted butter

Instructions

  1. Grease a 6-inch cake pan or oven-safe dish that fits your air fryer.
  2. Place the bread cubes in the dish. Add raisins or chocolate chips if using.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the custard evenly over the bread. Press the bread down gently so it absorbs the liquid.
  5. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.
  6. Air fry at 320°F (160°C) for 18–22 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil for the last 5–10 minutes.
  7. Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Serving ideas

  • Dust with powdered sugar.
  • Drizzle with warm caramel sauce or maple syrup.
  • Top with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
  • Fresh berries add a nice contrast.

Tips

  • Slightly stale bread absorbs the custard best.
  • Brioche or challah makes an especially rich pudding.
  • For a crispier top, air fry for an extra 1–2 minutes at 350°F (175°C).

Enjoy warm for the best texture!
