Crispy and crunchy on the outside, with a soft, marshmallow-like center—these air fryer meringues are light, sweet, and easy to make.
Ingredients (Makes 10–12 Meringues)
- 2 large egg whites (room temperature)
- 100 g (½ cup) granulated sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp cream of tartar (optional, for stability)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Make the Meringue
- In a clean, grease-free bowl, beat the egg whites and salt until foamy.
- Add the cream of tartar (if using).
- Gradually add the sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, while beating continuously.
- Beat until stiff, glossy peaks form.
- Gently mix in the vanilla extract.
2. Shape
- Line the air fryer basket with perforated parchment paper.
- Pipe or spoon small meringue nests or dollops onto the parchment, leaving space between each one.
3. Air Fry
- Preheat the air fryer to 120°C (250°F).
- Air fry the meringues for 40 minutes.
- Once cooked, turn off the air fryer and leave the meringues inside with the basket closed for 20–30 minutes to cool gradually. This helps prevent cracking.
