Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480 ml) water
  • 15–20 fresh mint leaves, washed
  • 1 small lemon, sliced (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1–2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice (optional, for extra tang)
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey, sugar, or your preferred sweetener (optional)
  • Ice cubes (if serving cold)

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a gentle boil in a small saucepan or kettle.
  2. Add the fresh mint leaves to a teapot or heatproof jug.
  3. Pour the hot water over the mint and add the lemon slices.
  4. Cover and let steep for 5–7 minutes, depending on how strong you like the flavor.
  5. Stir in honey or your preferred sweetener, if desired.
  6. Add fresh lemon juice for a brighter citrus flavor.
  7. Strain into cups and serve hot, or let the tea cool before pouring over ice for a refreshing iced tea.
  8. Garnish with extra mint leaves and a lemon slice.

Tips

  • Gently bruise the mint leaves before steeping to release more flavor.
  • Add a thin slice of fresh ginger for a warming twist.
  • For sparkling mint lemonade tea, chill the brewed tea and top with sparkling water.
  • Store leftover tea in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
