Fudgy Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter
  • 1¼ cups (250 g) granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (150 g) brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (100 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¾ cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup (170 g) chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
  • ½ cup (60 g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Grease or line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. Melt the butter and allow it to cool slightly.
  4. Whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  6. Sift in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Stir until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool completely before slicing for the fudgiest texture.

Tips for extra fudgy brownies

  • Do not overbake.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder.
  • Chill the brownies for 1–2 hours before cutting.
