Crustless Pizza Bowl

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground Italian sausage or lean ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1½ cups pizza sauce
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers
  • ¼ cup sliced black olives
  • 20–25 pepperoni slices
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the sausage or beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add the onion and garlic, cooking for 2–3 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  5. Divide the mixture among four oven-safe bowls or ramekins.
  6. Top each bowl with mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni slices.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden, slightly crispy cheese topping, if desired.
  9. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.
