Crustless Pizza Bowl
Ingredients (Serves 4)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground Italian sausage or lean ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil (if needed)
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1½ cups pizza sauce
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- ½ cup diced bell peppers
- ¼ cup sliced black olives
- 20–25 pepperoni slices
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, cook the sausage or beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
- Add the onion and garlic, cooking for 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the pizza sauce, mushrooms, bell peppers, olives, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Divide the mixture among four oven-safe bowls or ramekins.
- Top each bowl with mozzarella, Parmesan, and pepperoni slices.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Broil for 1–2 minutes for a golden, slightly crispy cheese topping, if desired.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.
