Air Fryer Bread Pudding (White Bread, Currants)

Air Fryer Bread Pudding (White Bread, Currants)

Ingredients

  • 6 slices white bread, cut into small cubes
  • ½ cup dried currants (or raisins)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (for topping, optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread Mixture

  1. Lightly grease an air fryer-safe baking dish that fits your basket.
  2. Add the bread cubes and currants to the dish.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Pour the custard mixture over the bread.
  5. Press the bread gently into the liquid so it absorbs evenly.
  6. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes.

2. Air Fry the Bread Pudding

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Sprinkle brown sugar on top for a caramelized crust if desired.
  3. Cover the baking dish loosely with foil to prevent the top from browning too quickly.
  4. Place the dish in the air fryer basket.
  5. Air fry for 25–30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil during the last 5–8 minutes to allow the top to become golden.

3. Check and Serve

  1. The pudding is ready when the center is set and a knife inserted comes out mostly clean.
  2. Let it cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
  3. Serve warm with cream, custard sauce, caramel sauce, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
