Egg toast

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons shredded cheese (optional)
  • Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Toast

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (180°C) for 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly butter or brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil.
  3. Press the center of each bread slice gently with a spoon to create a small pocket for the egg.

2. Add the Egg

  1. Place the bread slices in the air fryer basket.
  2. Carefully crack one egg into the center of each slice.
  3. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika or chili flakes.
  4. Add shredded cheese on top if desired.

3. Air Fry

  1. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 6–8 minutes:
    • 6 minutes for a soft/runny yolk
    • 8 minutes for a firmer yolk
  2. Check the egg and continue cooking for 1–2 more minutes if needed.

4. Serve

  1. Remove the egg toast carefully from the air fryer.
  2. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
  3. Serve hot with tea, coffee, or your favorite breakfast sides.

Air Fryer Tips

  • Use thicker bread slices to prevent the egg from soaking through.
  • If your bread is very thin, lightly toast it for 1–2 minutes before adding the egg.
  • For extra flavor, add cooked bacon, spinach, mushrooms, or sliced tomatoes before air frying.
