Fried Mushrooms

Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and trimmed
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended for extra crispiness)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

1. Prepare the Mushrooms

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and dry them well.
  2. Leave small mushrooms whole or cut larger ones in half.

2. Set Up the Coating

  1. Place flour in one bowl.
  2. In a second bowl, whisk eggs with milk.
  3. In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.

3. Coat the Mushrooms

  1. Dip each mushroom into the flour, shaking off excess.
  2. Coat in the egg mixture.
  3. Roll in the seasoned breadcrumbs until fully covered.
  4. Lightly spray the coated mushrooms with cooking spray or drizzle with a little olive oil.

4. Air Fry the Mushrooms

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Place mushrooms in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  3. Air fry for 8–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. Cook until the coating is golden brown and crispy.

5. Serve

Serve hot with:

  • Ranch dressing
  • Garlic aioli
  • Spicy mayo
  • Marinara sauce

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Air Fry Time: 8–12 minutes
  • Total Time: 25–30 minutes
