Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), cleaned and trimmed
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended for extra crispiness)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Cooking spray or 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
1. Prepare the Mushrooms
- Clean the mushrooms with a damp paper towel and dry them well.
- Leave small mushrooms whole or cut larger ones in half.
2. Set Up the Coating
- Place flour in one bowl.
- In a second bowl, whisk eggs with milk.
- In a third bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese.
3. Coat the Mushrooms
- Dip each mushroom into the flour, shaking off excess.
- Coat in the egg mixture.
- Roll in the seasoned breadcrumbs until fully covered.
- Lightly spray the coated mushrooms with cooking spray or drizzle with a little olive oil.
4. Air Fry the Mushrooms
- Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3–5 minutes.
- Place mushrooms in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Air fry for 8–12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Cook until the coating is golden brown and crispy.
5. Serve
Serve hot with:
- Ranch dressing
- Garlic aioli
- Spicy mayo
- Marinara sauce
