Swedish Apple Cake

Swedish Apple Cake

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (113 g) butter, softened
  • 1⅔ cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar (optional, for topping)

Equipment

  • 7-inch (18 cm) round cake pan that fits your air fryer
  • Parchment paper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Grease and lightly flour a 7-inch cake pan.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Arrange the apple slices over the top, pressing them slightly into the batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if using.
  9. Air fry at 320°F (160°C) for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover it with aluminum foil during the last 10–15 minutes.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before removing. Cool further on a wire rack.
