Crispy Cheeseburger Egg Rolls
Prep time: 20 minutes | Cook time: 15 minutes | Servings: 10 egg rolls
Ingredients
Filling
- 1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar or American cheese
- 1/2 cup dill pickle slices, chopped
- 10 egg roll wrappers
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (whisked together for egg wash)
- Vegetable or canola oil (for deep-frying or brushing)
Dipping Sauce (“Secret Burger Sauce”)
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp sweet relish or yellow mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Brown the Meat: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and diced onion; cook for 6–8 minutes until the beef is browned and the onions are soft. Drain excess fat. Stir in garlic, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
- Mix in Cheese & Pickles: Stir the chopped pickles and shredded cheese into the warm beef mixture until distributed throughout.
- Assemble the Rolls: Lay an egg roll wrapper flat with one corner pointing toward you (diamond shape). Spoon about 3 tablespoons of the beef mixture into the center.
- Wrap and Seal: Fold the bottom corner over the filling, pull back slightly to keep it tight, then fold in the left and right corners. Brush the top corner with the egg wash, then roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
- Cook (2 Methods):
- Deep Fry: Heat 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot or deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry egg rolls in batches for 3–5 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Air Fry: Brush or spray egg rolls lightly with oil. Place in an air fryer basket in a single layer and cook at 390°F (200°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Serve: Whisk the sauce ingredients together in a small bowl. Serve the egg rolls hot drizzled with warm cheese sauce or paired with the dipping sauce.
