Ingredients

  • 2 slices whole wheat or sourdough bread
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (or a mix)
  • 1 tbsp softened butter (optional, for extra crispness)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Pinch of black pepper
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven or toaster oven to 400°F (200°C), or set the broiler to high.
  2. Lightly butter the bread if using.
  3. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over each slice.
  4. Add garlic powder, oregano, and black pepper if desired.
  5. Bake for 5–8 minutes, or broil for 2–3 minutes, until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
  6. Garnish with parsley and serve immediately.
