Here is the recipe to make this classic Ham & Swiss Quiche Pie:
Ham & Swiss Quiche Pie
Prep time: 15 mins | Bake time: 40–45 mins | Servings: 6–8 slices
Ingredients
For the Pie:
- 1 refrigerated pie crust (or homemade crust)
- 1 ½ cups (200g) cooked ham, diced
- 1 ½ cups (150g) Swiss cheese, shredded (or Gruyère)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (240ml) half-and-half (or whole milk)
- 2 tbsp fresh chives or green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (plus extra for garnish)
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Prep the Crust & Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Unroll the pie crust and press it firmly into a 9-inch pie dish, crimping the edges nicely.
2. Layer the Filling
- Scatter half of the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie crust.
- Layer the diced ham on top of the cheese, then sprinkle the remaining Swiss cheese over the ham.
3. Mix the Custard
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, half-and-half, fresh chives, thyme, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
- Carefully pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese layer in the pie crust.
4. Bake
- Place the pie in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the center is set (a knife inserted into the center should come out clean).
- If the edges of the crust start browning too quickly, tent the pie loosely with aluminum foil halfway through baking.
5. Cool & Serve
- Garnish with a few extra fresh thyme leaves on top.
- Let the pie cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing so the custard sets cleanly. Serve warm or at room temperature!
